Environmental policy

We are a small consultancy with a small footprint, and we intend to keep it that way. This policy sets out how we reduce the environmental impact of our work.

Our commitments

• Work remotely by default, and travel only where it adds real value.
• Choose rail over air and road for UK and near-Europe travel wherever practical.
• Run a paperless practice, with digital deliverables and signatures.
• Prefer suppliers and hosting providers with credible renewable energy and sustainability commitments.
• Extend the life of hardware through repair and reuse, and recycle responsibly.

Responsible technology

Data and AI workloads consume energy. We right-size models and infrastructure to the task, avoid unnecessary retraining and large-scale processing, cache and reuse results where we can, and advise clients on the cost and carbon implications of their technical choices.

Working with clients

Where it is relevant to the engagement, we help clients consider environmental impact in their options appraisals and business cases, and we design solutions that are efficient to run as well as effective.

Compliance and improvement

We meet applicable environmental legislation as a minimum and look for practical improvements each year. We review this policy annually and welcome suggestions from clients and partners.
