Accessibility statement

We want everyone to be able to use this website. It is designed and tested against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 level AA.

Design choices we have made

  • A warm off-white background rather than pure white, which reduces glare and visual stress for many dyslexic readers.
  • Atkinson Hyperlegible, a typeface designed so easily-confused letters remain distinct, with generous line height, letter and word spacing.
  • Text and interface colours that meet or exceed a 4.5:1 contrast ratio, and body text above 12:1.
  • A blue–violet palette that stays distinguishable with deuteranopia, protanopia and tritanopia, with no red–green pairings.
  • Colour is never the only signal: headings, labels, underlines, position and shape carry the same meaning.
  • Line lengths capped at around 70 characters to make tracking lines easier.
  • Visible focus outlines, a skip link, semantic landmarks and headings for keyboard and screen reader users.
  • Animation is minimal and honours the reduced motion system setting.
  • Tap and click targets are at least 44 by 44 pixels.

Adjusting the page yourself

The site reflows to 400% zoom without loss of content, works with browser reading modes, and respects any font, colour or spacing overrides set in your browser or operating system.
